As a group we have chosen a song in the Pop/R'n'b genre. We have done this because we know that the majority of our target audience (teenage males) listen to this music frequently. We will look at and analyse music videos in this genre and take note of the conventions and ideologies that the genre represents.
Ideologies of the Pop/RnB Genre
Lots of RnB music videos have lots of subtle similarities between them, and lots of stereotypes are put together in order to create the conventions and ideologies that every gives the RnB genre. Here are some stereotypes of the typical RnB artist in the modern day.

These are two artists that are both active in the same era, even though they were established at different times, they still conform to the same stereotype of an R&B singer. The fact that both NEYO and Usher are so similar, further backs the idea that instead of people, they are products of the record label, and the record labels know that if someone has done something good and made lots of money from it, they can create another product that is similar and do exactly the same thing.
